Yes, it's 2023 (almost 2024), and the year's almost over. As I'm trying to share my opinion, and create a voice for myself, I'd like to say my favorite albums of 2023 (also just so people can listen to some new music).
The first album I'd like to talk about is NADIE SABE LO QUE VA A PASAR MAñANA by: Bad Bunny.
If you're into spanish music, this is (probably) the album for you. I'm guessing you've heard of Bad Bunny, or maybe listened to him on the radio. A Lot of his music is very similar, so when you like one of his songs, it kind of means that you're able to listen to all of them without disliking a single one. Now...onto the album. As someone who speaks spanish, and has been for the last 10 years, I cannot understand a single word that he says in these songs. I learned mexican spanish, and Puertorican spanish uses a ton of slang, and some "unique" phrases, which makes it very difficult to understand. On top of that, Puerto ricans usually talk very quickly, so with the combination of the two, I find it almost impossible to know what they're saying.
The songs in this album make me feel really chilled out, and are good to listen to while you're relaxing, or getting work done. Also, if you want to listen to music that you don't have to pay attention to, it's good for that. There are a lot of collaborations with other artists in this album, so it's a great way to find other artists like him, and get to know this type of music (Basically every song that Bad Bunny is featured on blows up). One of my favorite songs in this album is FINA because it has a very consistent, catchy beat that's fun to listen to (the voice of the singer also just sounds cool). Now I'd like to continue talking about this album, but I think it's time for the next one.
which is (drum roll please)....HOPE by: NF
Personally, I love NF. He’s such an honest rapper, and rather than talking about drugs, money, and girls (I have nothing against that, it’s just nice to see something different in rap), he raps about his life experiences, and the emotions he feels. I went to one of his concerts a little while ago with one of my friends, and it was incredible. We knew practically all of the songs, so to listen to him singing them in real life was a great experience. We ended up both getting t-shirts and it’s probably one of my favorite things to wear.
This album is really intense, and emotional, so if you’re trying to work through something, it’s really useful to just feel your emotions, and not really care about anything else for a moment. Another amazing thing about these songs is that each one builds, starting quiet, and small, and slowly getting more and more loud, and intense. My favorite song on this album was probably HOPE or BULLET, because they both seem as though they are about something in his own life, but you’re also able to relate them to something in your life.
These two albums really made my life better, and I hope you’re able to listen to them and feel the same way. Thank you so much if you made it this far, and actually took the time to hear my opinions. Have a great day!
